March 2012 Monthly Collections
Once a month this column posts the monthly collections from the prior month. This allows the church to give the most accurate financial numbers to the congregation. Our monthly goal will vary based on the number of Sundays in the month. You may check out archived months on the parish website, stmatthiaschicago.com.
In April the staff of St. Matthias Church and School will be working on the 2012-2013 budget. Once the budget has been approved by the Archdiocese, we will be using this space to explain the costs of running a parish. Currently, the financial goal is $8,000 a week from collections and electronic giving. This number is a simple division of a budget of $416,000 divided by 52 weeks a year. The short fall of the budget is made up through fundraising, bequests, and donations. At times when we have not collected all the money necessary to run the parish, we have had to borrow form the Archdiocese. Our goal in 2012-2013 is to meet budget and not have to borrow.
Fundraising is imperative for the church. We are about to begin planning meetins for our largest and most successful event “The Friends of the Grape (FOG).” If you are interesting in being on a FOG committee, please give me a call at 773-968-6434.
Finally, we are looking for tech savvy volunteers (high school kid looking for service hours preferred) to help with’ L‘ of a Hunt. If you can volunteer this coming Saturday afternoon or evenings this week, please contact Terry Tuohy at 773-968-6434.
