St. Vincent de Paul
The St. Vincent de Paul truck will be in the Queen of Angels parking lot 4500 N Western Ave on the weekend of July 21-22 before the Vigil and Sunday masses to accept tax-deductible donations of clothing, household items and furniture. Clothing should be packed in bags, preferably plastic. Household and other heavy items should be boxed. Wrap glassware and breakable items in paper to avoid breakage and worker injury. This is an opportunity to donate those items that you no longer need and help the poor of the Chicago area.

The Gift of Re-gifting…
My Aunt Kate died last week and as her sons were cleaning her house they were discussing what should become of the furniture clothes and art work that my aunt had acquired. Family members put in their request for chairs, jewelry and photos- they were gifts or a re-gift from my aunt. Once used and cherished by my aunt now became something the next generation wanted or needed.
Re-gifting has often gotten a bad rap over the last few years. It was an embarrassment if you received a gift that for what ever the reason you did not need or want and you than rewrapped and gave it to someone else who would enjoy the item (especially if you got caught). But re-gifting is a wonderful way to share in your abundance and at the same help out those who are in need or those who will truly enjoy the gift.
The Wine Auction is always looking for re-gift items. It might be something that you received from your wedding that is collecting dust. It could be some jewelry that is just not your style. Do you have liquor that was a gift from the holidays that you will never drink? Or how about gift cards that you forgot that you have and never seemed to use. All of these items can be used at the auction. I have the very best volunteers who work on making baskets, pulling together items, repurposing merchandise to make an exciting and colorful silent auction. All gifts and items can be dropped off at the rectory. One last plug for re-gifting you know that money that is yours well a re-gift of any money to support the Wine Auction or Church is much needed and definitely appreciated.
