The June collection numbers are:
Weekly Envelops $12,545.45
Electronic Giving $ 7,660.00.
Total: $ 20,205.00
Some Like it Hot … however I am not one of them. The summer heat is taking an extreme toll on the finances of the church. Our weekly envelop collection has dropped by an average of 6500.00 over the summer months compared to the winter months. A note of encouragement is the electronic giving has stayed solid and has even increased a tad. Now the heat of June and that of July is actually dangerous for some people to come outside and of course there is school vacation, personal vacations, weddings and events that have kept parishioners away this summer or maybe they are checking out the churches with air conditioning. What ever the reason the decline in revenue is alarming. July first marks the beginning of a new fiscal year and the decline in revenue will be addressed over the summer. The first solution is to encourage more people to give electronically so even though you might be away for a couple of weeks your support of the parish remains steady.
The second effort will be to take the shortfall of revenue that occurred over the summer and hope that the upcoming “Friends of the Grape” can recoup some of the lost revenue through additional fundraising. I would be interested in any ideas you might have. Please drop me a line at tuohyterry @gmail.com.
The importance of electronic giving at St. Matthias is imperative for the church to continue to thrive please consider participating. The giving through Give Central each month is easy and is making a difference in the monthly collection. Please keep up this steady giving especially during the summer months.
